This week, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats faced some criticism after some comments he made about star player Brandon Miller when it was revealed that the Alabama star brought a gun to former teammate Darius Miles that was allegedly used to kill 23-year-old Jamea Harris.
The family of Jamea Harris has criticized Oats for failing to reach out to them regarding the situation, and he was asked about that criticism after Saturday’s game.
“A question about whether Nate Oats has reached out to the family of Jamea Harris was cut off by UA media relations to direct questioning to the game only. Oats offered a comment anyway, but it was non-responsive,” Chase Goodbread said in a tweet.
Even though the question was shot down by the media relations team at Alabama, Oats did provide some comments in response to the question – although he didn’t really answer the question.
“I apologized for my previous comments this week. We understand the severity of it all. I am following the administration’s lead on everything here. We’re going to talk about the game only, is what they would like for me to talk about,” Oats said, according to Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News.
It’s safe to say Oats, Miller, and Alabama will be receiving criticism about this situation throughout the remainder of the season.
