National Anthem

The Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States and is ceremonially performed before sporting events all across the country. Most of the time, it’s performed quite professionally with a strong vocal performance or perhaps a performance from a school marching band. But ahead of Wednesday night’s game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Florida State Seminoles, the performance was quite a bit unique.

Before the game, Florida State brought out a man in a Santa Claus costume to sing the national anthem. And the performance was about as bad as it possibly could have been.

You can watch the whole video of the atrocious national anthem performance:

“It’s safe to say these fans weren’t feelin’ Santa’s vocals,” The ACC Network said in a Tweet.

“Santa join in on the pregaming?” Kelley Bydlon of VSiN joked.

“To be honest, this is the best performance in the ACC so far this season,” one fan joked on Twitter.

“Santa’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner just may have Fergie’s beat,” another fan joked.

“No… words…” local weatherman Don Schwenneker said in a Tweet.

As for the game, the Florida State Seminoles beat Notre Dame by a score of 73-72.
