Tom Izzo Michigan State’s head coach Tom Izzo is called for a technical foul during the second half in the game against Michigan on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.

Things are getting heated at the top of the Big Ten college hoops standings. The Michigan Wolverines left East Lansing with a Top 10 road victory on Friday after taking down the Michigan State Spartans.

However, Wolverines head coach Dusty May took exception with what he saw from some of the Spartans players after he watched the game film. May was asked on Monday about one play in particular, in which Spartans guard Jeremy Fears Jr. appears to trip Michigan player Yaxel Lendenborg.

May did not hold back in his response, saying that there were “several plays that are very dangerous,” according to The Athletic’s Austin Meek.

“The film’s there. 40 minutes of it,” May said. “It’s not hard to find.”

Tom Izzo Responds

It didn’t take long for Izzo to weigh in on May’s take.

“”I thought there were a couple of plays the other way, too,” Izzo said, per the Detroit Free Press’s Chris Solari, before adding, “I don’t care what Dusty says… if anyone did anything dirty, tell him to call me.”

If one thing is for certain, it’s that things will be even more heated when the Spartans try to get their revenge on March 8th in Ann Arbor, a regular-season capper of a rivalry game that could determine the conference champion.
