Eric Gaines throws down an incredible dunk for the UAB Blazers.

If we’re showing off a highlight from a college basketball exhibition game, you know it must be very, very impressive. And it certainly was.

LSU transfer Eric Gaines showed off his otherworldly athleticism in an incredible sequence during the UAB Blazers‘ exhibition game on Tuesday night against Mississippi College.

First, the 6’2″ Gaines looked like Ja Morant as he went flying through the lane for a powerful dunk. Seconds later on the other end of the floor, Gaines casually had a ridiculous block.

Even in an exhibition setting against a small school, that’s an absurd sequence. Heck, it would be an absurd sequence at the rec center.

And Gaines has put that athleticism on display in the NCAA Tournament for LSU, in evidence of a much more competitive setting:

Gaines averaged 9.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 steals per game for LSU as a sophomore in the 2021-22 college basketball season. The point guard is sure to play a massive role for a UAB team that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2022.

UAB will begin its season on Nov. 7 against Alabama State.

Here’s a peek at how the college basketball world is reacting to Gaines providing two amazing highlights in one sequence:
