While we’re firmly in college basketball’s offseason, that doesn’t mean big news doesn’t break from time to time.
Monday was a shining example of big news bursting through the offseason. The UConn Huskies announced they agreed on a new six-year contract with head coach Dan Hurley, keeping Hurley in Storrs for the remainder of the decade.

Hurley, who has coached the Huskies to back-to-back national championships, was a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers vacancy, which was filled by JJ Redick. His new deal will pay him $50 million over the contract’s life. Should UConn win again next year, he will become the second coach in NCAA history to win three straight NCAA Tournaments.
Social media had a lot to say about the big announcement.
As you’ve probably heard by now: UConn has officially announced that Dan Hurley – and the entire coaching staff – have signed extensions to stay at UConn.
Six years, $50 million for the best coach in the country.

Dan Hurley understands he has way more job security & control at UConn than he would ever have w/the Lakers the extra 20M wasn’t worth the stress I totally understand the decision it’s why Coach K never left Duke https://t.co/atKk3c5ob3

folks will clown Dan Hurley for choosing the lesser deal but he chose comfort & peace of mind over the circus w/ the Lakers.. I get it.
