While Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson may have all the physical tools an NFL team would desire in a quarterback, that didn’t necessarily lead to actual success on the field, especially in the win column.

While top quarterbacks Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud each led their team to a College Football Playoff appearance and lost just four games each throughout their two seasons as starting quarterbacks, Anthony Richardson didn’t even have a winning record as a starter. But even if things didn’t always go his team’s way, Richardson said he gave it his all on the field.

“A lot of people see that record and think we weren’t a good team,” Richardson said during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show according to on3.com. “A lot of people see the record and say, ‘Oh, Anthony Richardson can’t lead a team. He can’t even go .500 in the season.’ To that, I just say they don’t know the ins and outs of the game. They don’t understand what they go through daily, understand how hard we work.

“Sometimes things don’t go your way and that comes with the game. I feel like when I step onto a team, I’m there to contribute, give it my all, and provide in any way I can. I feel like I did that every game.”

Given his physical traits, Richardson will almost surely be a first-round pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft even despite his poor record at the college level. We’ll have to see how his game translates to the NFL.
