Texas Longhorns star quarterback Arch Manning is returning to college for another season, but it sounds like he has to undergo some surgery before he begins preparations for next season.
On Friday evening, Texas confirmed that Manning had undergone surgery on his foot to address an injury that he suffered. The school called the procedure “minor” and said it was a “preventative measure to address a previous injury.”
As a result of the injury and surgery, Texas has indicated that Manning will be limited for the team as they go through offseason workouts.
Texas did not provide any further details on his injury or give any specific timetable for his recovery apart from indicating that he should be able to return for the start of spring practice.
While he struggled a bit to start the season, Manning was playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the country by the end.
Over the final five games of the regular season, Manning topped 250 passing yards in four games and helped lead Texas to a 2-1 record against ranked teams. During that span, he accounted for 12 touchdown passes while throwing just a single interception.
In his first season as a full-time starter, Manning threw for 3,163 yards and 26 touchdowns and ran for 10 TDs last season. While he struggled a bit at the start of the season.
Manning is set to return to Texas for another season, and the Longhorns have clearly made an effort to surround him with talent to make a run at a national title next season.
