On Saturday afternoon, the Michigan Wolverines got hit with some absolutely horrible news when star running back Blake Corum left the game with an apparent knee injury in the second quarter of the team’s narrow win over the Illinois Fighting Illini.

Though Blake Corum did return to the game in the second half, he took just one carry and then was sidelined the rest of the game, leaving some doubt about his availability for this weekend’s massive game against the Ohio State Buckeyes. And one Michigan player may have just accidentally revealed a massive update to Corum’s status.

During Michigan’s team interviews, Michigan offensive tackle Ryan Hayes was asked about Corum, and he seemingly admitted that Corum will not be able to play this week against the Buckeyes.

“He’s a great player, but everyone else is gonna step up with him out,” Haynes said, according to Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors.

Corum has been Michigan’s best offensive player by far this season. Heading into Saturday’s game against the Illini, Corum had 1,349 rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns. If he’s unavailable to play in this week’s game against the Buckeyes, it will undoubtedly be a massive loss for the Wolverines.

Without him, the team will likely turn to sophomore running back Donovan Edwards, who missed last week’s game with an injury.
