Michigan Wolverines star Blake Corum discussed his decision to return to the program. On Monday, Corum’s rationale for his return to Ann Arbor in 2023 after an illustrious career was finally revealed.
Corum said that while head coach Jim Harbaugh pushed him to go to school, he wanted to come back for other reasons. Corum said that if he didn’t stay, there would be “no chance” that he would walk at graduation this Saturday. He explained, via On3, that the NFL wasn’t going anywhere, so he wanted to achieve something more significant than football: Becoming the first-ever graduate in his family.
Corum explained that decision and his rationale behind it to The 33rd Team.
At the time, Corum’s decision was intriguing. He was on the heels of a significant knee injury that kept him out of action for the team’s postseason run. Corum couldn’t healthily contribute to the second Michigan victory over Ohio State in as many years. But he decided against a choice to turn pro and go to the NFL and wants to handle and finish his business at Michigan.
As he explained, you can’t deny his passion for wanting to stick around, especially since more significant reasons are at play. Even if it is against “better” judgment.
People in the college football world had a lot to say about Blake Corum and his comments about returning to Michigan.

Not sure about a National Title, but beating Ohio State for a 3rd straight year seems more likely. https://t.co/nykayXxQiA
