For the past two years, star quarterback C.J. Stroud has led the Ohio State Buckeyes, finishing as a Heisman Trophy finalist two times as he emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation. And even though he is now headed to the NFL, it doesn’t sound like the Buckeyes are too concerned about a potential dropoff from his replacement.
Ohio State tight end Cade Stover decided to come back for one more season with the Buckeyes instead of entering the NFL Draft. He made that decision even though he’ll be playing with a first-year starter at quarterback. And he has nothing but confidence in whoever the Buckeyes name their next starter.
“People kind of brought that up coming back, like, ‘Who’s gonna throw you the ball?’ And as spoiled as we were with C.J., I mean, I trust these guys’ development, I trust these young quarterbacks – whoever it’s gonna be,” Stover said according to Eleven Warriors. “They’re both playing great right now. So I trust whoever’s gonna be throwing me the ball.”
Kyle McCord and Devin Brown are the two players currently battling to become Ohio State’s next starter. We’ll have to see which player emerges and earns the job this offseason.
