Last year, USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams emerged as the top player in the entire country and won the 2023 Heisman Trophy as a result. But Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley is expecting even bigger and better things from his quarterback in 2023.

During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take at the conclusion of spring practice this week, Lincoln Riley said that he is excited to be able to coach Williams for yet another season after coaching him each of his previous two seasons, as well.

“It’ll be fun having one back and getting to coach him another year, that really helps,” Riley said according to On3. “Caleb’s a unique talent, he really is and I give him a lot of credit.”

Riley also revealed that he has high hopes for Williams this season, saying he thinks “the best is yet to come” despite his success last season.

“But for him to have the courage to come in to this situation, help us really jumpstart a program, a new team, a new conference, new part of the country, I think showed the belief he has in himself as a player. And he’s just grown and grown and grown and it’s been a great journey so far, but I think Caleb and I both agree that the best is yet to come,” Riley said.
