The TCU Horned Frogs will be playing on college football’s biggest stage on Monday night when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff championship game. But when the Horned Frogs take the field, they will be doing it without one of their top players.

According to sports reporter Newy Scruggs of NBC Sport Dallas-Fort Worth, TCU will be without leading rusher Kendre Miller after he suffered a knee injury during TCU’s win over the Michigan Wolverines in the Fiesta Bowl last week.

“I’m being told #TCU running back Kendre Miller is out. He will not play in the national championship game due to knee injury. So Emari Demercado of Inglewood, CA will start. #GoFrogs,” Scruggs said in a Tweet on Monday evening, just over an hour until the game kicked off.

It’s an unfortunate update for Miller and the Horned Frogs before the biggest game of the season, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

“Ouch, huge loss for TCU,” Seattle Sports Diaries Podcast said in a tweet.

“This sucks,” Astros writer and TCU fan Michael Schwab of USA Today said in a tweet.

“Tough news for TCU’s leading rusher this season,” analyst Harold R. Kunz said on Twitter.

“Sigh ok well now we know,” TCU writer Joel D. Anderson of Slate said on Twitter.

TCU was already considered a sizable underdog to Georgia entering the game and this news certainly won’t help.
