A star defensive back from out west just declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Oregon Ducks star Christian Gonzalez announced his intentions to declare for the draft on Sunday. Gonzalez made the announcement on his Twitter account with a lengthy, published statement.
Gonzalez thanked a host of coaches he’s had over the years in the statement and his family. He wrapped up, “With that being said, I am opting out of the bowl game and I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.”

Gonzalez transferred to Oregon after he played with Pac-12 peer Colorado. He had a superb freshman season and was named an Honorable Mention on the All-Pac-12 team. Gonzalez came to Oregon and crushed it. Gonzalez finished the season with 45 tackles, one TFL, four interceptions, and 11 passes defended.
The 2023 NFL Draft will potentially feature a great amount of talented defensive backs. Gonzalez is one of them. Joey Porter Jr. of Penn State recently declared for the draft this past week. Cam Smith, Kelee Ringo, and Jaylon Jones are all expected to be around as well.
Gonzalez is a potential first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports recently had Gonzalez selected 13th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in his latest mock draft.
