The Colorado Buffaloes will rumble into the 2023 season with a lot of hype. New head coach Deion Sanders is trying to put a new shine on the program after a woeful 1-11 season. If their extremely early opening lines for Week 1 are any indication though, it will take some time.

Colorado opens against the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU will also have a lot of hype after its stunning 2022 season. The Horned Frogs pulled off a shocking turnaround and made it into the College Football Playoff Championship game. They fell to the Georgia Bulldogs but getting there was an achievement in itself.

The oddsmakers showed much more respect to TCU than they did Colorado. FanDuel Sportsbook opened up several Week 1 college football lines on Wednesday. One of them was for the game between CU and TCU. Currently, FanDuel lists the Horned Frogs as a mammoth favorite. By 17.5 points, specifically.

That TCU is a huge, three-score favorite shouldn’t be shocking. Colorado does have some new window dressings obviously between Deion and several transfers. But they still went 1-11 last season. That can’t be ignored too much.

Getting that kind of turnaround in one year is insane to suggest or even think. So a lean year in 2023 wouldn’t surprise many. That includes the oddsmakers, who’ve set the line to a pretty big line.
