Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders at a press conference in Boulder, CO. Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Deion Sanders impact for the Colorado Buffaloes’ college football program has already been enormous.

Colorado sold out its spring game — still to come on April 22, and televised on ESPN — at a capacity crowd of 45,000 people at Folsom Field, more than doubling its previous spring game attendance record of 17,800 set in 2008.

And on Monday, Sanders made another major announcement on the sellout front.

Sanders told the media on Monday in Boulder that Colorado season tickets have sold out for the first time in 27 years.

What makes the achievement even more incredible for Sanders and the Buffaloes is the fact that Colorado has never sold out season tickets before August, and we’re still in April.

So, fans in Boulder are extremely excited for the upcoming football season, and it’s very understandable why. The Colorado football program has been a disaster this century, as the 1-11 record in 2022 would indicate. The Buffaloes have had one winning season over the past 17 years.

Sanders led Jackson State (FCS) to a 27-6 record over three seasons as head coach for the Tigers. He’s already made huge waves in the recruiting department for the Buffaloes. Colorado currently has the No. 21 recruiting class in 2023 according to 247 Sports, with two 5-star recruits and seven 4-star recruits.

The Buffaloes’ home opener will be against Nebraska on Sept. 9.
