As Colorado continues to thrive under first-year head coach Deion Sanders, many have started to wonder how long Sanders will remain in Boulder before the allure of a new job calls out to him, as it does so many college head coaches.
Perhaps Sanders could even follow in the footsteps of Jim Harbaugh and go from successful college head coach to successful NFL head coach.
Well, not so fast.
"Deion doesn't want to coach in the NFL. He's told me that point blank to my face."

FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt joined Colin Cowherd on The Herd on Wednesday and when the subject of Sanders jumping to the NFL came up, Klatt said in no uncertain terms that it won’t be happening.
“He’s not going to the NFL,” Klatt said. “I don’t know if he’s gonna be at Colorado for sure. I can’t say that, but he’s not going to the NFL. Deion doesn’t want to coach in the NFL. He’s told me that point-blank to my face. He believes that his role is more as a mentor. He loves coaching kids, and this is where he feels called. In fact, the word that he used with us in our meeting — and you’ll know this because he’s very forward about his faith — he believes this is his ministry. To be there for kids in college. Be a father figure to kids in this moment in their life.”
Sanders obviously has plenty of NFL experience, as he played in the league for 14 years and took home the 1994 Defensive Player of the Year Award. The six-time first-team All-Pro was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
