The Colorado Buffaloes were without their top player during the blowout loss to the Oregon Ducks this week with Travis Hunter sidelined after suffering a lacerated liver thanks to an illegal hit against Colorado State the previous week. And it is clear he won’t be playing this week against the USC Trojans either, even tough he wants to.

In a post from Well Off Media, Deion Sanders shared a text message he sent to Travis Hunter after the star player begged him to return to the team in time to play against the USC Trojans this weekend. Though Hunter might want to play, Sanders made it very clear that it’s not going to happen.

“No you ain’t ready and I care about you more than I care about this game,” Sanders texted Hunter, sharing the message with the team, according to On3. “You’re going to change the game of football one day when you’re healthy and ready. Your future is brighter than mine ever will be and ever was. Relax and get healthy. I love you son.”

Hunter is one of the best overall players in all of college football on both offense and defense, emerging as one of the best cover corners and most explosive receivers in the game. The Buffaloes greatly miss him on both sides of the ball.
