Whether it was during his playing career in the NFL or now as a college football head coach, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has never been shy about sharing his brutally honest opinions, and he did it again during a recent speech.
Speaking to a crowd of car dealers at the annual convention of the National Automobile Dealers Association, Deion Sanders had some strong words about the current state of America, blasting the United States by calling it “a soft country.”
“We’ve got a soft country right now!” Sanders said while everyone cheered, according to Slate.
“We gotta get back to the basics,” he said. “You all are providers, leaders, and conduits of change.”
“We cannot change; we gotta get back to the basics,” Sanders said later in his speech.
“Applaud yourself,” Sanders instructed, according to Slate, and the dealers did.
It’s a pretty bold message from Sanders about what he thinks of the country in its current state, and people had plenty to say about it on social media.

Lots of truth! In addition…yes, we want our kids to have it better than we did…but at what cost? Parents need to STOP making the “moment” about them and maybe things will change. Every stage of life doesn’t need to be a grand event. https://t.co/a3iUq1KK9F

If ALL PARENTS would understand this and did the “tough love” the right way. Our present and future would be so much brighter !! 💪🏽💪🏽.
Thank you mom and dad!!

Sanders has never been shy about labeling things “soft” and speaking out against “softness” in his program or in the current generation of adolescence. But criticizing the entire country is a whole new level.
