Heading into this season, Ohio State Buckeyes wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka are widely considered the two best receivers in the country and both are projected first-round picks. But according to Egbuka, neither would make the Mount Rushmore of Ohio State receivers.
This week, Emeka Egbuka was asked to create a hypothetical Mount Rushmore of Buckeye receivers, given the school’s dominance at producing elite receivers. And his first pick was rather obvious: Hall of Famer Cris Carter.
“My first one would definitely have to be Cris Carter just because of the legacy of the wide receiver he is, wore No. 2. I got to have him in there. He’s in the Hall of Fame, too, so I got to have him,” Egbuka said according to Sports Illustrated.
From there, Ebguka listed a couple more former Ohio State stars followed by a rather surprising pick: his position coach and offensive coordinator, Brian Hartline, who played for the Buckeyes from 2005-2008.
“Ted Ginn. Michael Thomas. Those are my three and then, four, they could go to a lot of guys,” Egbuka said. “You could want to name some current ones or maybe you could even name Coach Hart, himself, just because he had a great career in the league but what he’s doing now, pumping out these first-round talents so maybe I’ll go with Coach Hart as my fourth.”
There are a lot of players to choose from, but maybe Harison or Egbuka – or maybe both – could find themselves among this group one day.
