Before Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck signed with Georgia, he was previously committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban. As he prepares to face off against Alabama for the first time since signing with Georgia, he remembers the period of time in which he thought he’d be playing for Nick Saban.
During the SEC Championship Game Student-Athlete Teleconference on Monday, Carson Beck was asked about the time when he was committed to Nick Saban. And while Beck acknowledges that was a long time ago at this point, it’s clear that he still has a lot of respect for Saban as he prepares to face off against him.
“Yeah that was a long time ago but obviously a great coach, one of the greatest of all time,” Beck said. “Just stern with it, set the standard, it’s a very similar program to Georgia and the things that we believe in, the ideals, but obviously Coach Saban’s a great coach and I have tons of respect for him.”
It’s safe to say that things worked out fine for both parties after Beck decommitted from Alabama as the Crimson Tide are pleased with quarterback Jalen Milroe and Beck has led Georgia to yet another SEC title game appearance.
