The Georgia Bulldogs football team has decided against accepting an invitation to the White House.

The Bulldogs received an invitation from President Joe Biden to appear at the White House in Washington, D.C., as most champions do. But the Dawgs won’t be able to attend, as they cited a lack of feasibility and logistics to make the move happen.

Seth Emerson of The Athletic posted a statement from Georgia.

“The Georgia football team has declined an invitation to the White House, citing the date offered, June 12,” they said. An athletic spokesman for the program said, “Unfortunately, the date suggested is not feasible given the student-athlete calendar and time of year. However, we are appreciative of the invitation and look forward to other opportunities for Georgia teams moving forward.”

The decision by Georgia isn’t out of order, necessarily, as declined invitations have happened many times before. There doesn’t appear to be any political nefariousness here, either. So it’s probably fair to suggest the two sides couldn’t work it out well enough. Although it’s an interesting result after a player raised a fuss about not initially receiving an invite.

Georgia won their second consecutive College Football Playoff Championship in January. They defeated the TCU Horned Frogs at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, a year after they defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide in Atlanta.

The CFB world was ready to react to the massive news about Georgia and the White House.
