A projected first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is staying at FSU.

Jared Verse is returning to Florida State. The defensive end revealed the big news that he would stay in Tallahassee late Saturday morning. Verse left a tweet with a video that announced his decision to remain with FSU for the 2023 season.

Verse tweeted a heart with “#NoleFamily” next to it, sending FSU fans into a tizzy.

Verse is thought very highly of, or was at least now, by NFL Draft people. Ryan Wilson’s mock draft for CBS Sports recently had the Seminole defensive end going ninth to the Carolina Panthers. Had that have happened, he would have been side-by-side with fellow former FSU pass-rusher, Brian Burns. But with Verse’s announcement, the world will simply have to wait another year to see if that happens.

The star pass-rusher recorded nine sacks, 48 tackles, 17 TFL, and a fumble recovery in a beastly season this past year. Verse was named an All-ACC First Team selection for this contributions.

The world reacted to the news, and plenty had a lot to say.

NFL film guru Ben Fennell tweeted, “Wow. Huge news with Jared Verse heading BACK to Florida State for 2023… Joining DT Fabien Lovett who initially accepted Senior Bowl invite – also heading back. Big portal destination too! FSU looking like a contender in ’23.”

Nick Simon proclaimed, “FSU is about to jack the ACC back from Clemson.”

Former FSU player Travis Johnson was elated, as he tweeted, “Letttttts Goooooo 5 @JaredVerse1 @FSUFootball 2023 about to be epic.”

The official FSU account tweeted that they were “Excited beyond words!”

PFF’s Marcus Mosher considered the news “Pretty surprising!!” due to the buzz he received.
