The Ohio State Buckeyes have a track record of bringing in some of the most elite high school wide receiver prospects, including players like Marvin Harrison Jr., Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and most recently Jeremiah Smith, but the Buckeyes got some pretty brutal news on the recruiting front this week.

According to a report from Hayes Fawcett of On3, four-star 2025 wide receiver Jayvan Boggs has backed out of his commitment from the Ohio State Buckeyes and will re-open his recruitment.

“BREAKING: Four-Star WR Jayvan Boggs has Decommitted from Ohio State, he tells me for @on3recruits. The 6’1 200 WR from Cocoa, FL had been Committed to the Buckeyes since October. Boggs had 93 receptions for 1,504 yards & 24 TDs in his junior season,” Fawcett said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty brutal news for the Buckeyes as Boggs is one of the top wide receiver prospects in the country and his decision to open up his recruitment leaves Ohio State with no wide receivers currently committed in the 2025 recruiting class.

As a result, this decision led to a lot of reactions on social media.

The good news for the Buckeyes is that they are still in contention for a few other elite wide receiver prospects, including Jaime Ffrench, Kaliq Lockett, and Dakorien Moore.
