An All-ACC receiver entered the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday.
North Carolina Tar Heels receiver Josh Downs announced he will enter the draft. The former All-ACC receiver posted the announcement that he would declare on Twitter.
Downs wrote, “Tar Heel Nation, I appreciate the love and support through everything. Y’all consistently showed me and my teammates love. Thank you! After weighing my options and praying on the future, I have decided to forgo my final 2 years of eligibility and enter the 2023 NFL Draft.”

Downs also noted he would opt out of the Tar Heels’ appearance in the Holiday Bowl, where they will face Oregon.
In 2021, Downs erupted on the scene. He caught 101 passes for 1,335 yards. He scored eight receiving touchdowns as well. That performance earned him an All-ACC First Team selection. Downs was joined by Virginia receiver Dontayvion Wicks and Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison on that squad, as well.
The receiver board for the NFL Draft is starting to fill up. Downs is the latest to declare for the 2023 draft and to make an announcement in general. Kayshon Boutte of LSU recently revealed he planned to stay in Baton Rouge. That move could have a positive effect on where Downs lands. With one receiver out of the pipeline, Downs could be a grab for a receiver-needy team early.
