When Julian Fleming signed with the Ohio State Buckeyes, he was the top-ranked receiver in the 2020 high school recruiting class. But after earning a spot in Ohio State’s starting lineup the past two years, it looks like he’s going to be finishing his college career elsewhere.

On Monday afternoon, Julian Fleming announced that he was entering the transfer portal and will play the final season of his college career elsewhere.

“I want to thank Ohio state for all the amazing people who were apart of my rollercoaster of a journey. It was an amazing four years and I have built relationships that will last a lifetime with so many of my fellow players as well as coaches. Playing in Columbus has truly been one of the greatest times of my life and I want to take the time to thank the entire Buckeye nation for all the support! With that being said I am entering my name into the transfer portal for a final year!”

This is a somewhat surprising announcement considering that Fleming had already worked his way into the starting lineup for the Buckeyes and there’s a good chance both Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka elect to enter the NFL Draft this spring.

Still, Ohio State has a loaded group of wide receivers including five-star freshmen Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate as well as incoming freshman Jeremiah Smith, who is the top-rated player in the 2024 recruiting class.
