Rumors that Lane Kiffin will leave Ole Miss for Auburn have come to a critical point.
Kiffin met with the Rebels football team on Tuesday to discuss the rumors that he’s heading to Auburn. That news was reported by ESPN senior reporter Chris Low on Tuesday.
Low wrote, “Amid speculation he’s leaving for the Auburn head-coaching job, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin met with his players Tuesday and assured them that he hasn’t accepted a job at any school.”

The report also said Kiffin’s focus is on the Egg Bowl this week. Low wrote, “He told players his focus was on Mississippi State and nothing else and that any reports out there about his accepting another offer were totally false.”
The report from Low named Kiffin and former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze as the primary targets in Auburn’s coaching search.
This new report followed a path that Kiffin forged already. Monday night, the Ole Miss coach denied the rumors that he was to accept the Auburn Tigers coaching job.
Coaching season rumors always get funky. So this could just be the start of something. It was rumored last week that Ole Miss had a huge offer waiting for Kiffin. He has obviously succeeded at Ole Miss and despite trip-ups, the team is still on pace for 10 wins. If they get there, the program will have had back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since the 1960s.
