Lane Kiffin’s press conferences can be newsworthy sometimes. Monday’s revealed that the Ole Miss coach made a phone call to a player’s mom.
Jaxson Dart didn’t have the best go against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Ole Miss Rebels quarterback attempted to make a comeback on ‘Bama late. But it didn’t go as planned and the Rebels fell, 30-24. Kiffin’s playcalling and decision-making came under scrutiny this week. But that wasn’t the only thing. Kiffin’s treatment of Dart caused the Rebels coach to call someone important to his quarterback: His mom.
Lane Kiffin says he called Jaxson Dart’s mom to apologize for her son’s treatment vs Bama:
“She mentioned it’s a shame her son gets treated different based on what SEC program that he’s at on game day and protected different.”
“You can’t fine me for what someone else says.”

SEC Mike tweeted, “Lane Kiffin says he called Jaxson Dart’s mom to apologize for her son’s treatment at Bama.”
“She mentioned it’s a shame her son gets treated different based on what SEC program he’s at on game day and protected different,” said Kiffin. “You can’t fine me for what anyone else says.”
Kiffin is never shy, as we know. He might roast you, he might make you laugh, and at times he answers what’s most important.
He and Dart though will have to right the ship and there’s still time to. The team can finish with 10 wins if they defeat Arkansas and Mississippi State to end the year. It would be the first time the program has ever achieved back-to-back 10-win seasons since 1959-60. Hopefully, with no more phone calls to mom on the way for their sake.
