Deion Sanders recently had Lil Wayne on Colorado’s campus because, of course, he did.
As Sanders continues to build up his new program’s brand, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s bringing rappers around campus. The Colorado head coach gave Lil Wayne a tour of the facilities, including the locker room. Which the famous rapper, who hails from New Orleans, could not believe.
“That’s the F—ing locker room?” Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., said via SportsCenter on Twitter.
Lil Wayne at Colorado? Deion really for the culture 😂

Obviously, their relationship predates the rapper’s visit to Boulder.
Back in 2021, when Sanders was still the head coach at Jackson State, he was cited for his support in then-President Donald Trump’s pardon of Lil Wayne. In a statement, provided by The Clarion Ledger, Sanders wrote on Lil Wayne’s behalf that he is “a provider for his family, a friend to many, a man of faith, a natural giver to the less fortunate, a waymaker, [and] a game changer.”
It’s safe to say that the early impressions of the program Deion Sanders is running are good ones. Just don’t expect Lil Wayne to take up a collection for Colorado players after any losses in 2023.
“It’s gonna be hard for them [expletive] to feel bad after a loss,” Wayne said. “I’m sorry. I’m gonna let you know that now. When you start dealing with that, it’s gonna be so hard for those [expletive] to feel bad after a loss.”
