Louisville has reportedly hired their next football coach.

The Cardinals will bring Jeff Brohm back to the program. Brohm coached at Purdue for the last six seasons, but with Scott Satterfield’s departure to Cincinnati, an opening was available. So Brohm decided to jump through it and return to Louisville.

Chris Low of ESPN reported the news of Brohm’s hire. He tweeted, “Jeff Brohm and Louisville Football are in the process of finalizing a deal to bring Brohm back to his alma mater as head coach.”

Terms of the deal, as reported by Low, are six years and “in the $35 million range.”

Brohm led Purdue to its first-ever Big Ten Championship Game appearance this season. The Boilermakers went 8-5 this season with a chance to win a ninth in their bowl game. If they do, they would hit nine wins in back-to-back seasons. Something the program hasn’t done since 1997-1998.

The college football world reacted to the news that Brohm would return to Louisville.

Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports tweeted, “Jeff Brohm is a good hire for Louisville. I have no idea if it will work out.”

Chris Vannini of The Athletic reminded the world of a quote from Brohm that expertly foreshadowed this move.
