The Landscape of college football has changed drastically in the last several years, from the addition of name, image, and likeness, to the transfer portal giving athletes a new level of autonomy.
However, many people believe the era has ruined the sport, and a lot of the tradition that existed with it. Those people got a major win on Wednesday, as the NCAA acted to rein in some of the player liberty that has existed, according to one prominent outlet.
“NEW: The NCAA has officially passed a one-time-only college football transfer portal window,” reported On3.
Then, an insider followed up with more information.
“The NCAA Administrative Committee has eliminated the spring football transfer portal window but it remains undetermined when the one-time portal will be,” reported Pete Nakos.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Its should open the day after the season ends not early January while the playoffs are still going,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“A lot more work is needed on the portal .. no issue with players being paid, but right now the balance between ‘player’ and ‘team’ and ‘conference’ just seems out of whack,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see what other changes the NCAA has in store.
