For the first time since 2007, Alabama is in the market for a new head coach.

After Nick Saban announced his retirement on Wednesday, the Crimson Tide are now searching for the person who will succeed what was arguably the greatest run in college football history with six national titles from 2009-2020.

While there has already been plenty of speculation regarding who will replace Saban, according to BetOnline, one clear frontrunner has emerged. At -150 odds, the online sportsbook lists Washington’s Kalen DeBoer as the betting favorite to be Alabama’s next head coach, with the full list of odds as follows:

  • Kalen DeBoer -150
  • Mike Norvell +150
  • Steve Sarkisian +175
  • Lane Kiffin +500
  • Dan Lanning +1000
  • Dabo Swinney +2500
  • Marcus Freeman +4000
  • Sherrone Moore +4000
  • Pat Shurmur +5000
  • Billy Napier +5000
  • Ryan Day +5000
  • James Franklin +5000

  • Brian Daboll +6600
  • Curt Cignetti +6600
  • Tommy Rees +8000
  • Pete Carroll +8000

  • Butch Jones +12500
  • Major Applewhite +12500
  • Jim Harbaugh +12500
  • Greg McElroy +15000
  • Adam Gase +15000

For the betting uninitiated, DeBoer’s -150 odds carry an implied 60 percent chance of him becoming the Crimson Tide’s next head coach. A bettor would need to risk $150 to profit $100 on a successful wager on DeBoer, while a successful $100 bet on Mike Norvell (+150) would profit $150, and so on.

In two seasons at Washington, the 49-year-old DeBoer has amassed a 25-3 record. This past season, the Huskies amassed a 14-1 record, with their season coming to an end with a loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday.

Whoever replaces Saban following his retirement will certainly have a lot to live up to. But as the latest betting odds show, there is no shortage of intriguing candidates for Alabama to consider in the days and weeks ahead.
