In its first season post-Nick Saban, the Alabama Crimson Tide missed out on the college football playoff, even in its expanded format, showcasing his enormous influence on the program. Saban has since transitioned to ESPN’s College Gameday, where he serves as a college football analyst.
However, it appears that we have not seen the last of Saban on a football sideline, per On3.
“REPORT: Greg McElroy said a person ‘in the know’ believes Nick Saban will return to coaching ‘If it wasn’t someone notable, I would never say a word,'” reported the outlet on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“He wanted to come back to LSU after the Dolphins but the coach we had was winning, there was no reason to fire him. I promise you we will not make that mistake again,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“If Saban comes back, it won’t be for just any job. It’ll be somewhere where the infrastructure and talent are already in place, and he gets to chase one more ring. Not ruling anything out,” another fan added.
“I think he returns to LSU for one final mea culpa—to make amends with the university and the fan base. It’s clear he always had a deep love for the place, and this is his chance to restore his legacy with the people and the state he truly cared about—because they won’t forgive him any other way,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Saban can lead yet another program to the promised land.
