After losing to Texas and being benched against USF, it would have been very easy for Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe to sulk pout, or give up on the season.
Instead, Milroe kept battling and gained the starting job back when Alabama faced off with Ole Miss. Milroe led the Tide to a 24-10 victory, and the team hasn’t lost since, climbing back to No. 11 in the AP Poll and sitting at 6-1 going into this weekend’s showdown with No. 17 Tennessee.
During his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Nick Saban showered his quarterback with praise and said the team feels the same way about Milroe as he does. “Jalen Milroe has done an outstanding job and his teammates have grown confident in him,” Saban said. “We still could be a little more consistent in the passing game, but we’ve made a lot of explosive plays,” He continued.

Milroe has improved as the season has gone on, with five of his 11 touchdown passes this season coming in Alabama’s two previous games, a 26-20 win over the Texas A&M Aggies and a 24-21 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks. The A&M game was Milroe’s strongest showing of the season, as he finished 21-for-33 with 321 passing yards, his first 300+ passing yard game of the season.
With Tennessee and LSU as the next two teams on Alabama’s schedule, we should learn very soon just how much the sophomore quarterback has improved.
