When the Ohio State Buckeyes host the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday night in Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes won’t be wearing their traditional Scarlet and Gray home uniforms. Instead, Ohio State will be rocking special all-black uniforms
Ohio State officially announced the special uniforms on Tuesday afternoon, sharing a video of the black helmet along with a caption that reads “blackout activated.”

While these all-black uniforms are not the team’s standard home threads, they’re also not necessarily new. When the Buckeyes wear these uniforms on Saturday night, it will be the fourth time the school has worn them in a game.
Ohio State debuted the all-black uniforms in 2015 during a night game against Penn State. The Buckeyes didn’t wear them again until 2018 during a home game against Nebraska. Ohio State last wore the all-black uniform combination in 2019 during a game against Michigan State. The Buckeyes are a perfect 3-0 in all-black uniforms.
The uniforms drew a mixed reaction from the college football world with some liking the look with others insisting Ohio State should just stick to its classic uniforms.

Special uniforms that include colors that are not your school colors are just dumb. https://t.co/xKxawKbmjJ

Well well well… surely not a tradition-rich school with a trophy case full of accolades would do something to change its classic uniform??? https://t.co/D5BYtJavMV

Ohio State wearing anything other than their normal, iconic helmets is a crime. https://t.co/GjhFv71KTv
