The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback this season after the departure of C.J. Stroud, who was selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. But just a couple of weeks before the start of the college football season, the Buckeyes have still not decided who their next quarterback will be.
Ohio State has held a lengthy competition between quarterbacks Kyle McCord and Devin Brown throughout the offseason, but head coach Ryan Day revealed on Monday that he is still not ready to name a starter.
“No starting quarterback announcement yet. Ryan Day said neither Kyle McCord nor Devin Brown has won or lost the job yet. ‘Our staff feels confident with both of them.’ He said he asked the staff this weekend who they thought should start, and it was ‘split right down the middle,'” Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors said in a tweet.
“If I sat here right now, I think that both deserve to play,” Ryan Day said of Devin Brown and Kyle McCord.

Whoever ultimately earns the job will have some lofty expectations after the success of Ohio State quarterbacks in recent years. He will certainly have some big shoes to fill.
