The Ohio State Buckeyes will have to retool their offensive line this year after the departures of offensive tackles Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones – both of whom were just selected in the 2023 NFL Draft over the weekend. And it looks like the team got a big boost from the transfer portal to help.

On Sunday evening, San Diego State transfer offensive tackle Josh Simmons announced that he will be transferring to the Ohio State University where he will have a chance to become the team’s starting right tackle for the upcoming college football season.

“First off I would like to thank every school that reached out and gave me an opportunity to play at there respective program, with that being said I will be furthering my Academic and Football career at THE Ohio State University #GoBuckeyes,” Simmons said in a tweet on Sunday night.

It’s a pretty major announcement for the Buckeyes as they look to bolster their offensive line to protect a first-year starter at quarterback, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

Simmons arrives at Ohio State with three seasons of college football eligibility remaining, so he could be a starter for years to come.
