Ohio State Syndication: The Columbus Dispatch

The Ohio State Buckeyes football team scored a big recruiting win on Tuesday. The Buckeyes landed a big-time transfer from the Ole Miss Rebels as defensive lineman TyWone Malone will go from Oxford to Columbus.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported the move for Malone, who has three years remaining eligibility. So he could be an impact transfer for the Buckeyes in 2023 and beyond.

According to Fawcett, Malone was ranked within the Top 90 of the 2021 recruiting class.

Malone also made the announcement in the form of a video on his Twitter. “New chapter, same mission,” Malone declared.

As RJ Young pointed out, Malone has also starred on the baseball diamond.

Suffice it to say, Ohio State will probably get a lot out of Malone as he switches from the SEC to the Big Ten. Ohio State has earned back-to-back losses to rival Michigan and failed to win the College Football Playoff despite one of the most talented rosters in the nation. The Buckeyes hope to turn it around after two disappointing seasons in 2021 and 2022. The Buckeyes hope to turn it around after two disappointing seasons in 2021 and 2022.

But with recruiting wins in and out of the transfer portal, like the one the team scored on Tuesday, Ohio State could change their fortunes around. They will need players like Malone to combat opposing offenses, namely Blake Corum and the rival Wolverines.

The CFB world reacted to the huge news.
