The college football world is abuzz over the latest Lane Kiffin news.

Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels officially agreed on a contract extension. On Tuesday, the program announced the news on Twitter. The program tweeted, “Ole Miss and Head Coach Lane Kiffin have officially finalized a new contract extension!!”

The news was trending in this direction early last week. A report surfaced from ESPN that Kiffin met with the Ole Miss team and told them that he planned to stay. This was done because rumors had spread about the Ole Miss coach and his interest in the Auburn Tigers head coach position.

Hugh Freeze’s shocking hire opened the door for the Rebels to keep the incumbent coach aboard in Oxford.

The decision to hire Lane Kiffin has paid off for Ole Miss. In three years, the Rebels have built up a 23-12 record including a 10-3 mark a season ago. After they fell apart to end the season, they won’t hit the 10-win plateau again. But they still have a chance for a respectable 9-4 record after their bowl game.

Kiffin has also made a bowl game in each of the last four seasons and five of the last six. That dated back to his three-year run with FAU. He won the Outback Bowl in 2020 but the Rebels lost last year’s Sugar Bowl to Baylor.

The college football world reacted to the news of Kiffin and his extension with the Rebels.
