A former five-star recruit is leaving Oregon.

Ducks linebacker Justin Flowe has hit the transfer portal. The rising senior linebacker will continue his college football career away from Eugene after three years with the team.

Flowe himself tweeted the announcement. He said, “Thanks to the University of Oregon, coaching staff, and teammates for 3 great years here in Eugene. With that being said I’ve decided to explore my options and enter the transfer portal.”

Flowe was the top-rated linebacker in the Class of 2020 and one of former coach Mario Cristobal’s biggest gets. Flowe had high expectations in Eugene but the trouble was that he had a hard time living up to them.

The Oregon linebacker was hampered by injury throughout his time there. Flowe played only two games in his first two seasons with the Ducks. This past season he played in 10, so he never played a full season. He recorded 35 tackles and 2.5 TFLs in 2022.

There should be a variety of suitors for Flowe now that he’s in the portal. But his durability will be his biggest obstacle in making a significant impact. If he can do that wherever he lands, and unlock his potential, then someone could land a steal.

The CFB world reacted to the news of Flowe’s transfer portal announcement.
