It’s been over a week since Alabama lost to Tennessee and the talk has turned from the game to an incident between a Tennessee fan and Tide wide receiver Jermaine Burton.

Burton is accused of striking the fan after she stormed the field with other Vols fans after their win over Alabama. Nick Saban announced that Burton’s punishment will be handled internally but the wide receiver started against Mississippi State last weekend, raising a lot of questions and eyebrows across the country over how any “punishment” was handled.

One of those questioning Saban’s decision was Pat McAfee who said he thought the head coach handled it the wrong way.

Saban said in his press conference after the game Saturday that he didn’t punish Burton because there was more to the story than what was seen and had others known what had happened, they’d never punished him either.

McAfee wasn’t buying it.

“I think obviously the video is completely contradictory to the fear (narrative)”, he said during an appearance on Outkick’s Dan Dakich show. “He looked very comfortable that whole time.”

McAfee also said it’s a bad look for Saban.

“I don’t know how Saban doesn’t punish that guy,” said McAfee. “You can’t just be openly slapping women.”

“In my eyes, I don’t think Saban made the right play here. I think you have to at least do some sort of punishment… Anytime you put your hands on a woman, I think there should be a message sent. We can’t have that.”

McAfee also admitted that fans storming the field was not a great experience for him either when he played football at West Virginia.
