The Alabama Crimson Tide failed to reach the College Football Playoff for just the second time in history last year while the Georgia Bulldogs won their second consecutive national title. It didn’t look good for the Alabama dynasty or Nick Saban, and college football expert Paul Finebaum thinks if that happens again, it could mark the end of Alabama’s dynasty.
During an appearance on First Take on Friday, Paul Finebaum had a particularly brutal warning to Alabama and Nick Saban, making it clear that if the Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart win a third consecutive national title, that would certainly mark the end of the Alabama football dynasty.
“In terms of beating him? I don’t think that rivalry has quite reached that point,” Finebaum said according to On3. “Now, if Kirby wins this year? Let’s quit talking about, ‘Is the dynasty dead at Alabama?’ That’s not even a conversation with Kirby having won three in a row. But he hasn’t done that yet.”
Alabama has a chance to reclaim its spot at the top of college football, but they’ll have to do it with a new starting quarterback and several question marks across the roster. We’ll have to see whether or not the Tide can do it.
