The Florida Gators have had lots of issues this off-season finding a replacement for quarterback Anthony Richardson who has moved on to the NFL Draft.

One quarterback prospect just announced that he was leaving the school because his NIL deal fell through and the team had to cut another quarterback prospect because he used a racial slur.

Another Gators QB was cut from the team because of child pornography charges.

Marcus Stokes was a four-star quarterback who the Gators signed but revoked his scholarship offer after he was caught using a racial slur on video.

He later apologized but the damage had already been done. Now, the star QB has been offered another scholarship by an unexpected source.

Stokes revealed that Albany State, an HBCU out of Albany, Georgia, has made him a scholarship offer.

Stokes said he was “blessed” to receive the offer and that he is still trying to find a home. Reports are that Division II West Florida, located in Pensacola, also has an interest in Stokes.

It’s not unheard of or unusual for a white quarterback to play at an HBCU. Grambling had a white quarterback in the 70s play there. What is strange is an HBCU offering a scholarship to a quarterback who has this kind of baggage.

This news may not sit with some Albany State fans and alums.
