Khalief Canty Jr. is only a high school sophomore, but he already has a number of scholarship offers from big-time college football programs.

And he got another big one this week, as the Michigan State Spartans renewed their scholarship offer made under former head coach Mel Tucker last season.

Canty posted a message on X/Twitter Friday thanking the Spartans for their offer. It was a nice-looking message, featuring photos of Sparty waving the Spartans flag, Spartan Stadium and some Michigan State players.

But someone probably should have proofed the message for Canty.

“Blessed to be re offered from the University of Michigan state💚 #AGTG @Coach_Smith @KbTheStable,” the message read.

Just to clarify for non-football fans, it’s actually Michigan State University, and the Spartans are bitter rivals with the University of Michigan located about an hour away in Ann Arbor.

Canty’s definitely not the first recruit to get a college name or nickname wrong. He certainly knows the difference between the two schools, as he attends high school in Detroit.

And it’s also possible he got the name wrong because the Wolverines have also offered him a scholarship. The 6-foot-5 offensive tackle has also received offers from Auburn, Louisville, Tennessee and West Virginia, among other schools.

Whatever the reason, Canty appears to have a very bright future. Spartans fans were pleased to hear the news of his offer.
