The Indiana Hoosiers have been the team of destiny in college football this season. A season after making the first College Football Playoff in school history, head coach Curt Cignetti has proven that it was no fluke.
Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza led the Hoosiers to a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship that stamped Indiana as the real deal for anyone who still harbored doubts.
The Hoosiers are entering the Rose Bowl against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Unfortunately for Indiana, the Hoosiers will have to dig deep, as Indiana lost one of its critical trench players on the defensive line, while Alabama is getting healthier in the trenches heading into the Rose Bowl.
“Couple takeaways from Rose Bowl media availability. . LT Overton is the latest Tide player to return to the field. Kalen DeBoer said better health has permeated through the program: ‘How more fresh they feel, you can feel it.’ Ty Simpson called more time off ‘a lifesaver,'” reported ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

“I feel great. I feel like how I was before…. I feel game ready.” DC Kane Wommack told ESPN Overton’s presence will show in the run game: “I think teams have a very hard time moving the line of scrimmage wherever he is,” Overton said.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Health depth is the invisible edge nobody talks about until January. Fresh legs in the playoffs change everything—ask any team that limped through November. If Alabama’s actually gotten whole, that’s a different animal than what teams saw in October,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“This could easily be the Alabama that whooped Georgia innAthens scoring 5 straight TD’s,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Indiana can keep its Cinderella run going against another blue blood.
