Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord had what might be the best and most dominant play of his career with the Buckeyes during Saturday night’s 38-3 win over the Michigan State Spartans, and head coach Ryan Day was quite pleased with what he saw from his young quarterback.

During his postgame press conference, Ryan Day praised Kyle McCord and acknowledged how much better the offense functions when he is playing well.

“I think statistically in the first half it was (his best game). I thought we came out of the gates operating much more efficiently,” Day said Monday night according to Eleven Warriors. “I thought Kyle made some good throws, made some plays in the red zone, a couple of third-downs.”

In the game, McCord completed 24 of his 31 passing attempts for 335 yards and yards and three touchdowns – setting career highs in both completions and passing yards. Day saw improvement in his fundamentals this week, and that led to the performance.

“I thought his feet moved better in the game,” Day said following the game. “Just watching the rhythm of the game, the feet – he started off a little better in the Rutgers game, then he started off a little better in this game – the game is slowing down for him. You’re beginning to see that happening. Not that it’s all perfect all the time, it’s not. But when his feet are right and he’s found the rhythm of the game, that’s when he’s playing at his best and he threw some really nice balls tonight.”

The Buckeyes will need McCord to be at his best in their season finale against the Wolverines later this month.
