Before he became the head coach at Nebraska and flamed out spectacularly, Scott Frost found massive success at Central Florida. There’s a growing sense that he might be the right guy to help turn around another Florida college football program.

South Florida fired head coach Jeff Scott last week and now finds themselves on the hunt for a program leader who can return them to the days of competing for conference titles. While Jon Gruden became a trendy pick in some circles, there have been a lot of calls for Frost to return to the state where he found the most success so far in his college coaching career.

Orlando Sentinel sports columnist Mike Bianchi shared his thoughts on how the Bulls should target Frost, who went 19-7 in two seasons at UCF, including a 13-0 campaign in 2017.

He’s not the only one either as Zac Blobner from 95.3 WDAE said recently that the school is expected to “put in a call to Scott Frost too if Gruden declines.”

It currently seems highly unlikely that Gruden would be interested and that the school would be able to weather the PR nightmare of hiring him. Someone like Frost, who needs to repair his image but doesn’t come with that kind of baggage, could be the ideal candidate for the football program as they look to keep pace with the rest of the state’s college football programs.
