Just over a year ago, Spencer Rattler was widely considered the top quarterback in the country and entered the 2021 season as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner. But after some struggles during his second season with the Oklahoma Sooners, Rattler was benched in favor of freshman Caleb Williams and he ultimately transferred to South Carolina during the offseason.
Unfortunately for Rattler, things don’t seem to be going all that much better for him at his new school. In two games against the Georgia State Panthers and the Arkansas Razorbacks, Rattler has thrown more interceptions (three) than he has touchdowns (two).
That only got worse on Saturday afternoon as the former five-star quarterback threw what might have been his most brutal interception yet this season against the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
With the Gamecocks driving deep in Georgia territory early in the first quarter, Rattler threw a pass down the left side of the field, but his receiver never had a chance. The ball was terribly overthrown and Georgia freshman defensive back Malaki Starks intercepted it easily.

It certainly wasn’t a good pass from Rattler, and the college football world wasted no time in blasting him for it.
Malaki Starks is a freshman.

South Carolina’s punter is a better QB than Spencer Rattler. I’ve seen enough pic.twitter.com/JWok7y5evX

This is certainly not how the former five-star prospect envisioned his college football career.
