After a woman made shocking allegations against an assistant coach on the Temple Owls football team, local police and the university have opened investigations.
In screengrabs shared by OwlScoop’s Javon Edmonds, a woman claimed on social media that she was hired by Temple’s assistant head coach and defensive line coach Antoine Smith as a dog sitter while he was out of time. The allegations were shared by an Instagram account that is dedicated to safety concerns for Philadelphia women.
“The university is aware of the allegations made on social media regarding Coach [Antoine] Smith,” Temple University said in an emailed statement to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “The university does not publicly discuss personnel matters; however, we will review and investigate these claims in accordance with university policy.”
A Philadelphia Police Department spokesperson also told the Inquirer that “there is an existing, open investigation at [the Special Victims Unit] into these allegations.” The department did not identify anyone involved as no charges have been filed.
Per the Inquirer, a second woman also posted allegations, saying that she was also aware of a camera in Smith’s home, though she did not mention if she had shared it with police.
Philadelphia attorney Amanda Jonas Lorentson told the Inquirer that her firm is representing both women.
