The Texas Longhorns are hoping that this is the year that Arch Manning lives up to his massive potential and last name and leads the program to its first national championship title since Vince Young was the quarterback in 2005.
Manning was hard at work refining the skills to help him take the next step at the 30th edition of the Manning Passing Academy, where more than 1,400 high school quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends, and wide receivers, and even some collegiate QBs, such as Manning, gathered at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Shockingly, The Ringer’s Todd McShay confirmed that Manning was booed at Academy, which is put on by his family.
“I’m down at the Manning Passing Academy, and there are some (expletives) in the stands who are actually booing Arch. And I’m like, the Manning family has invited you in, one of 1,400 campers, to come in, and we’ve got a group of like 15 kids that are booing him,” McShay said during an appearance on The Brandon Walker College Football Show.
“Everyone in the crowd, I’ve never seen anything like it man; everyone in the crowd is in love with Trinidad Chambliss,” McShay said.
Kirk Herbstreit won’t be surprised
McShay’s revelation won’t come as a surprise to ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit, who predicted that Chambliss would be the face of the sport this season.
“I think, by the way, that the face of the sport going into the season as much as people are going to talk about Arch Manning, I really think Trinidad Chambliss at Ole Miss,” he said in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“He is so refreshing when you get around this guy. You guys should have him on the show before the season starts. If you haven’t had him on yet, you’ll instantly fall in love with his personality.”
Chambliss and Manning will face off against each other on October 24 in Austin, and Manning will have plenty of bulletin board material.
