So far this season, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg has been arguably the most dominant defender for the Ohio State Buckeyes, leading the team in both solo and total tackles while also having 2.5 sacks and an interception that he returned for a touchdown. He was dominant once again during Saturday’s game against the Maryland Terrapins, and he did it despite some brutal injuries.

Tommy Eichenberg led Ohio State with 13 total tackles in the team’s win over Maryland on Saturday afternoon, which is impressive all by itself. But after the game, teammate Zach Harrison revealed that Eichenberg was playing with two broken hands in the game and that his willingness to play through injury was an inspiration.

“Just seeing them out there with the injuries they have, kind of makes us be like, ‘We’re cool,’” Harrison said according to Eleven Warriors. “If Tommy’s out there with two broken hands … like what do I gotta say if I’m a little sore or my knee’s hurt or so and so. I just gotta go play. We all gotta go play.”

It’s not clear how long Eichenberg has been playing with the brutal injuries, but it’s clear that they didn’t slow him down one bit so he’ll likely keep playing through them as Ohio State continues its national championship pursuit.
